John Lennon Wall

In the summer of 2013, our family winded our way along the narrow, square-cobbled streets of the Malá Strana or “Little Side” of Prague. This “Lesser Town” is below Prague Castle, near the end of the Charles Bridge on the left bank of the Vltava River.

Finally we rounded a couple of tight corners to find the John Lennon Wall. At that time it looked like this:

That afternoon the musicians played their guitars, visitors sang, left their graffiti and took lots of pictures. We left a walrus stone with Liam’s name on it.

But, on November 27, 2014, the John Lennon Wall was painted over — just more than a year after we stood before it.

Still, maybe a few cans of white paint can’t completely stop the vibrant, musical spirit of John Lennon’s message.
