Painting Stones
Painting stones is a way to see Liam in all the places where he set foot on his own, places that we visited together, places I imagined we might see together, and places Liam may have imagined he would visit. Stones are set along trail sides where Liam practiced running, and at beaches where he and friends poked around for shore crabs. One was even slipped behind a window grate of an ancient Italian observatory and wedged at the base of the John Lennon Wall in Prague – places our family visited on a trip to Europe in 2013.
Images on the stones, and words on their opposite sides are expressions of love, remembrance and connection to Liam’s interests and to important places that were — and might have been — a part of Liam’s life with family and friends.
